Breathtaking Ice Falling From The Rocks Alongside the Highway

falling ice

I came across this ice melting over the huge rocks alongside the highway and felt like I was riding through the caverns. It was a breathtaking scene along a road in Northern Rhode Island as the temperatures were above freezing.

Have you come across this type of scene in your area before?

  1. What a beautiful sight and I bet it's even more breathtaking in person! I have never seen anything like this before, only in pictures. Hmmm, just realized I need to do some traveling this year!

  5. Thanks for sharing these beautiful icicles with us. It's been too warm and dry for us to have any of these along our highways this year, although we've had them in the past (and hopefully will have them in the future).

  6. Hi Lisa,

No, never seen such. You know why ;)

They are really awesome like an art ;) Melting happens each time when you have snow and freezing cold in your area?

    Cheers...

    1. Thanks Mayura. It doesn't happen every time. Only when really cold follows the snow.

  8. Great shots, Lisa. I've seen this before in Pennsylvania (along I-81) on our travels. Never was allowed (!) to stop and get some shots though.
