The Scenic Ride Around Canyon Lake and the Apache Trail

A surreal shot around the Canyon Lake.

Beautiful mountains surround the Canyon Lake.

Tortrilla flat
A great place to have lunch in the mountains of the Apache Trail.

Of all my trips to Arizona over the years I had never seen nature like this area of the Apache Trail. It was peaceful and beautiful. The trees had different colors around the lake. The cactus appeared larger around the lake.  The mountains are called Superstition Mountains - based on a legend of the Lost Duchman's Gold Mine.  People over the years have died searching for it around the area. Many believe it is cursed.

Lakes and ponds not usually found each time you drive around for hours in Arizona. I would visit this area again as it's close to where my relatives live and I'd love to see it at sunset or sunrise.

Have you visited a desert with a lake?

More of the Apache Trail.

riding through the apache trail
A beautiful ride through the beginning of the Apache Trail.

We went back to Arizona  after visiting La Jolla Beach and visited the Goldfield Ghost Town located in the Apache Trail. It was where high grade gold ore was found back in 1892. It was a beautiful ride to the Goldfield Ghost Town with greenery and clear blue skies.

There were many authentic buildings there - many which were commercialized and selling products. There were restaurants too. I really loved the cactus plants throughout this trail in Arizona.
Do you like the look of cactus plants?
Have you ever visited an old gold mining town?

More photos coming soon of the other spots on the Apache Trail including a beautiful lake.
