The Beautiful Beach at Oceanside as the Sun Set

The West Coast Trip

The pier where we dined on at sunset in Oceanside, CA - You could see the moon on one side and the sunset on the other side.

The moon was out too before the sunset at the beach.

A beautiful sunset for dinner on the pier at Oceanside.

The trip out west was beautiful especially at sunset. The sunsets on the West Coast last much longer than on the East Coast as the sun sets in the West. Dinner at the pier was unplanned and could not have been better. It was the perfect view of the ocean.
I was visiting my son and other relatives in Arizona when my son and I took a drive out to the San Diego area for a few days. It was a 5 hour drive. We stayed in Oceanside, CA. It is the 3rd largest city in San Diego County, CA.
I found the sand to be softer here on the West Coast vs. the East Coast beaches. The sand was made up of smaller grains and appeared to be whiter. The boardwalk was clean and long along the ocean - perfect for long walks and views of the sunsets.

Have you visited both the East and West Coast beaches yet?

Stay tuned for more pictures from the Southwest.

  1. I have watched sunsets over both coasts. Sunsets over water are always my favorite.

  2. Beautiful pictures Lisa! I was in San Francisco back in my 20's and loved it there. The beaches are a lot nice than the ones, at least here in Delaware. If you like those, you should definitely visit Cancun or Playa del Carmen in Mexico. Beautiful white powered beaches! And if you go to St. Lucia, a volcanic island, they have beautiful black sand beaches. ;) Thanks for sharing part of your trip with us!

  3. What a special place for a meal. To have the the moon on one side and the setting sun on the other is almost magical. I haven't been to any west coast beaches yet, but I hope to get there some day. I will say, however, that the beaches in North and South Carolina are pretty wonderful.

    PS
you asked about the edit on my last post....those colors were pretty true to what I saw - however - I did use a very light Instagram filter on the shot.
Thanks so much for stopping by my blog!!

  5. Great photos Lisa! It's been years since I've been in the San Diego area, or anywhere else in California for that matter. I've been wanting to bring my boys to both San Fran and San Diego as they've never been there.

And since I live fairly close to east coast beaches, been there many times, and I agree with you on the sand! And I also find the CA beach crowd quite different than the northeast beach crowd. :)

Looking forward to more photos of the southwest. I think that's where we are headed next June!
