The Other Side of the Riverwalk That Was

The other day I went for a walk at the other side of the Riverwalk. You may remember the older post about the Riverwalk that was damaged to the floods of 2 years ago in the area. This side of the Riverwalk was not in much better shape.

The other Riverwalk

This part of the Riverwalk was donated to a former Senator of West Warwick years ago. This part looks nice, right?

branches down

You begin the walk and notice branches down everywhere still.

No where to walk on Riverwalk

And then there is no where to walk with debris everywhere.

Soccer fields near Riverwalk

I ended up walking near the soccer fields which used to be the town dump when I was a kid. How things have changed!

A picnic area

There is even a picnic area and swing set. Imagine having a picnic where the old dump used to be? Why hasn't the Riverwalk itself been cleaned up from 2+ years ago?

Royal Mills

The area all surrounds the old Mill which is now condominiums. I feel bad for those that bought these condos thinking they had a great place to walk. Maybe someday the old Riverwalk can be restored so people can enjoy a long walk by the scenic river once again.

Do you have Riverwalks and old mills nearby?

  1. Not in my neck of the woods. This is farm country here. Cow, horse, goats, sheep everywhere. :) It's sad that no one has cleaned up the damage along the Riverwalk. Thanks for sharing

    1. Wow, I didn't picture your area all farm country Brenda. I hope someone does get cleaning started there.

  2. OMG - that's so coincidental that another post I read today, with a quotation of the day, said this - “Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.” By: Ralph Waldo Emerson

You did JUST that only by circumstances it seems that blocked your path! I'll bet almost anyone could find such an opportunity in their neighborhood. Thanks!

  3. Curious that the Riverwalk has not been restored. The Burlington (VT) bike path was heavily damaged last year, but it was very quickly repaired--even before the streets. Bike riders have a lot of influence around here.

    1. Hi Olga, I bet Vermont may have more money - that's probably the reason I'd imagine. Thanks for commenting.
