The Sunny Jim Cave at La Jolla Beach

We visited the Sunny Jim Cave in La Jolla, California in the San Diego area. It was a treat to see and experience (for a surprising low $4 charge). As you could read from the sign the tunnel is over 110 years old. I did not see the sign going down but my son pointed it out coming back out as I was huffing and puffing the last few steps up. You can read about the history here. It took 2 years for them to build this magnificent cave.

This was a unplanned visit after the 4 hour walk through the San Diego Zoo.  The beaches in this area were spectacular as you will see in the coming posts. I really feel in love with the La Jolla area of San Diego.

Have you visited a cave like this near the ocean?

  3. I can relate about the steps! We climbed more steps in Greece in two weeks than we have in years. LOL Lovely photos, Lisa. My parents moved to San Diego in the 70s and, while I've been there numerous times, we only got to La Jolla once or twice and didn't see the cave. Pity! Glad you had a nice holiday there.
