Sunrises and Sunsets at Niagara Falls

The beauty of the sunrise and sunset at the Falls

Aside from the other pictures of the falls, and the power of the water, the sunrises / sunsets were spectacular to see there. The fog from the 3 waterfalls added more dimensions to the photographs.

The view can really take your breath away watching the sunrise at Niagara Falls. It's a must see if you do go there - which I highly recommend you see at least once in your lifetime.

I'd love to when it either snows or freezes. Last year (2014) the falls did freeze and many visited to see the frozen spectacle.

Have you seen Niagara Falls in the fog or when it froze over?
If you haven't been there is it on your bucket list to visit?

It was another wake that brought me to the coast of Narragansett  last night and I thought I would take a ride to view the beautiful scenery of the beaches. It was very tranquil with few people around. The weather was cloudy and rainy away from the coast so many people did not venture out to the beaches.

Have you been to visit the beaches or coastline in your area yet or do you wait for warmer weather in June to enjoy them?

Which photo is your favorite view? My favorite photograph is the last one off the coast of Galilee, a fishing village in Rhode Island.

Sunsets Later in April with Time Change in Photos

It was a nice sunny day yesterday in Southern New England. The temps hit in the mid 50's and with some wind.  I could not resist going for a walk at sunset time. The extra time we gained from the time change last month has really given us longer sunsets and more time in the evening to be outdoors and enjoy nature.

I passed the soldier that stands in front of the high school I used to attend years ago. I could not remember where the soldier came from - you can read via the plaque above the history behind it.

I noticed a difference from the mid march skies just a few weeks ago.

As you can see from this chart below, each day gives us 2 more minutes of daylight this month.

Spring is in the Sky - Photographs

very blue skies

blue skies of spring

Today marks Spring officially on our calendars. It may not feel like it quite yet but the skies are showing signs that Spring is here. Today's temperatures will reach into the 50's here but if we look ahead to next week's forecast there is still some snow in it. At least most of the snow is gone but you can still see some snow here and there.

Has Spring literally arrived in your area yet or are you still having winter weather where you are?
It does seem that the past few years we went right into summer from winter.

Nature At Its Best With A Snow Covered Beach

The snow covered rocks at the beach

Lighthouse with snow

I've always wanted to see the beach covered in snow and I had the opportunity the other day when I had a client meeting 4 minutes from the beach after the day of a 5" snowfall. This winter's cold and snow has not stopped though it was not as much as last February's snowstorm.

It was very peaceful to spend a couple of minutes taking a few shots of the snow covered beach. It seems a little ironic to be at a beach and see snow covered rocks and sand. But the cold air really put reality in it's place.

Have you ever visited the beach in the snow?

The City in October Clouds and Pink Skies At Night

This past weekend was another walk, this time for breast cancer in Providence. It was a cloudy October day but some of the images along the way were beautiful. It wasn't as bright as the weekend prior's walk for Ovarian Cancer.

The evening featured a pink sky and the birds seemed to know it was time to go away to someplace warmer. The days ahead appear to be cooler and a little wet.

How's your fall weather? Have you had any snow yet?

Why I Love The Summertime ~ In Photos

Beautiful Sailboats in the Atlantic Ocean

Summertime is really my favorite time of the year. We don't need coats, we don't have to warm up the cars - we can just go. And the places around Rhode Island are just beautiful in the Summertime. From the beaches to the gardens and walking tracks - there is always great sights around during the summer months especially near the Atlantic ocean.
This time instead of Jamestown I went to Narragansett to a beach called East Matunuck to get some rest and relaxation with friends.
The next to the last photo is of the track I walk at and it was during the sunrise while the grass was being watered.

What is your favorite time of the year?

More Summer Flowers Around the School

squirrel in the tree

I've been going for more walks around the school grounds and love the garden the agriculture department has outside the school's building. The scarecrow type figure is unique as it protects the garden. It is believed it will stop the birds and crows from eating the seeds and plants.
I had to go slower this morning as it was steamy and very hot. Storms tonight should bring the heatwave temps down to summer normal temps soon.

And in the last photo, can you spot the squirrel?

Supermoon Between The Clouds

Last night I was able to see the supermoon from the beginning until the clouds came and covered it. It was quite the sight to see.  It was a learning experience to get different types of shots at various lightening settings on my Droid. Tonight there will be another opportunity to see this supermoon which is 14% bigger and 30% brighter. Looking back at an older photo of the moon, I could see the difference.
An amazing moon to see. It will not be this close again for us to see until August 2014.

Were you able to see it last night too?

Chippy the Chipmunk is Back With the Pretty Flowers

If you have visited this blog for a year you may have remembered Chippy. He was the friendly chipmunk always ready for a photograph. If he is the same chipmunk this year he is a little shyer. He hid a few times before I got this shot of him. Chipmunks can live for 2-3 years and do not store fat when they hibernate.

The white flowers grow wild all over the yard near picky bushes. Can anyone tell me their name?

The peony, my old time favorite for it's color, short life and beautiful smell, has come out again for a few short days.

What are you favorite flowers this time of the year?

Cows With Personality Posing For Pictures

Cows on a farm on a beautiful late spring day

The other week I took a different way home and found these cows on a farm. I love taking different ways home now. These cows were very interesting. This top image is when the cow was like posing for me! He seemed to like the attention but when I got closer he started to run away.

According to research on cows they are very intelligent animals and can remember things for a long time. They can form friendships with other cows and even hold grudges against those that treat them badly. Imagine?

Have you come across cows in your area? If so, how did they react to you?
